Battersea Power Station London opens to the public

London’s famous Battersea Power Station opens to the public today, 14 October, concluding the second phase in London’s greatest ever urban regeneration project, the Battersea Embankment Development. The primary purpose of the reclamation and conversion of the power plant by award-winning studio Wilkinson Eyre is creation of a multi-purpose mixed-use development that will become an exemplary project for the city. The interiors are designed by Michaelis Boyd.

“The Architects Series - A documentary on: WilkinsonEyre”, the 21st episode in the series presented by THE PLAN magazine for the Iris Ceramica Group, will be live streamed from the Iris Ceramica Group’s London Flagship Store on February 10. The screening of the documentary film about WilkinsonEyre’s projects and work will be followed by a lecture by architect Jim Eyre, co-founder of the studio. The documentary also offers an opportunity to remember the late architect Chris Wilkinson.

Farewell to Chris Wilkinson

Architect Chris Wilkinson, co-founder of WilkinsonEyre architectural studio with Jim Eyre and winner of two RIBA Stirling Prizes, passed away on December 14 at the age of 76. The announcement was made on the studio’s official Twitter account on December 16.

It’s time for the prestigious biennial award presented by the Royal Institute of British Architects to built projects all over the world: the three finalists in the 2021 edition were announced on November 16. The projects competing for the RIBA International Prize 2021 are Friendship Hospital in Satkhira, Bangladesh, by Kashef Chowdhury/URBANA; James-Simon-Galerie in Berlin, Germany, by David Chipperfield Architects Berlin; and Lille Langebro cycling and pedestrian bridge in Copenhagen, Denmark, by WilkinsonEyre and Urban Agency.

The WilkinsonEyre architectural practice signed the renovation project of the Weston Library; the original building was designed by Giles Gilbert Scott in 1930 and is part of the Bodleian Libraries of the University of Oxford, one of the most ancient public libraries in the world.
