Pei Cobb Freed & Partners – repositioning of the 1271 Avenue of the Americas tower

The new high-performance curtain wall of the 1271 Avenue of the Americas tower in New York has made it possible to preserve the image of the original building, built in the 1960s, but with significant energy savings. The repositioning project, created by the Pei Cobb Freed & Partners studio, received the Best Tall Building 2022 Award of Excellence in the Renovation category, awarded by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.

On the occasion of the 2021 Tall + Urban Innovation conference organised by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), the winners of the 18th edition of the CTBUH Awards were announced. The jury selected the winners of the 29 categories into which the rich programme of prizes is divided, as well as naming the overall winner. For the 2021 edition of the prestigious Awards, the Best Tall Building Worldwide is the Vancouver House: a residential skyscraper designed in the Canadian city with the same name by the BIG studio, founded by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels.

CTBUH names Urban Habitat Award Excellence Projects

In preparation for the 2021 edition of the Tall + Urban Innovation Conference, set to take place online on May 18 to 20 of this year, the CTBUH (Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat) revealed the winning “excellence” projects in various categories of its prestigious awards. After the buildings have been categorised according to height, the new excellence winners are skyscrapers selected for the technological and construction aspects adopted, for their intended use or for the Urban Habitat category.
