June 10 was the last day of the first exhibition at SuperSurfaceSpace, the showroom and gallery the Iris Group opened on February 19 2015 in Moscow for the Iris Ceramica, FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti and Fiandre brands.
The exhibition “Minifacture mobile fabshop and exhibition”,curated by Olga Aleksakova and Julia Burdova of Buromoscow architectural studio, offered architects, designers and planners a look at the latest new Digital Fabrication or fabbing machines.
Minifacture was not just an exhibition but a true laboratory open to designers interested in exploring the expressive potential of 3D printers, laser cutters and numerical control machinery. The exhibition included both objects which have already been made and projects produced during the workshops held in a special area in the exhibition space.
The exhibition saw the participation of a delegation of students from Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC). Their representatives Dori Sadan and Stuart Maggs held a lecture presenting the Minibuilders project, for autonomous robots capable of performing a number of tasks seemingly beyond their size.
