The Songshan Cultural and Creative Park of Taipei hosts an exhibition dedicated to the work of Zaha Hadid Architects, showcasing aspects of their architectures that differ from those currently being exhibited at the Maxxi Museum of Rome.
The "Global Design Laboratory" exhibit mainly concerns those creations by Zaha Hadid Architects that transformed the notions of what can be achieved in concrete, steel and glass, projects that becameicons of contemporary progress and proposed new urban and social landmarks. As a matter of fact, the architects declared that the main lesson of Architect Zaha Hadid was expanding the boundaries of the discipline, while at the same time cultivating humanism. This way, the social functionality of a building becomes the starting point of a design strategy. This is then followed by a careful assessment of the technical requirements and the possible optimisations derived from the use of advanced technologies, such as a better construction efficiency achieved through the use of BIM (3D Building Information Modelling) during the design phase. The exhibition also showcases built works, projects, furniture, design elements, the experimental designs of the CODE (Computational Design) group and the work of the Virtual Reality Group which develops immersive prototypes.
