"Giovanni Michelucci. Elements of the city" is an exhibition promoted by the MAXXI Foundation, the Giovanni Michelucci Foundation and Michelucci Documentation Centre in Pistoia focusing on the final years of the architect?s career, after the second world war.
This was a time of dense activity when the architect produced countless designs, teachings, expressions of a new vision of urban reality and a form of architecture which is more conscious of its social role.
The exhibition includes a selection of Michelucci?s best-known projects, including the Motorway Church and the skyscraper in Piazza Matteotti in Livorno, represented in photographs by Ugo Mulas and Arrigo Coppitz respectively, as well as a vast body of drawings and studies of the idea of the city produced between 1945 and 1973.
A video including exclusive material and interviews, photographs and an opportunity to consult more than 100 digital drawings with a touchscreen complete the exhibition.
