FAB Milano OneNight Eco-Social Design Luca Gnizio

FAB One Night events, the series that has brought to life the Milanese showroom and exhibition space operated by the Fiandre and Porcelaingres brands throughout the year 2016, is coming to a close. At 18:30 on November 24 on FAB Architectural Bureau Milano hosts the fifth and final One Night event, and following communication, photography, video and architecture, the theme of the evening will be design. Paolo Schianchi, curator of the One Night series and the Floornature portal, will meet with and guide the conversation between Marie Claire editor-in-chief Antonio Mancinelli and eco-social designer Luca Gnizio, the special guest of the evening.

The designer uses recycling to restore value to "leftovers" or scrap from production processes. The new objects combine low environmental impact with high social value, because they are made with the involvement of associations of the disabled and unemployed. Hence the definition of “eco-social designer”, because Luca Gnizio’s approach to product design is founded on ethical, social and environmental principles. In an installation that takes advantage of the effects of light and shadow, visitors to FAB can discover a number of objects designed by Gnizio and exhibited for the occasion on pedestals made with GranitiFiandre ceramic slabs. The designer has worked with prestigious international companies such as Levi’s Strauss (ForOCEANJeans chairs and benches), the Cosmave consortium (Ecosinergie di marmo) and BMW, for which he created the Escape chair made from scrap carbon fibres. During the evening the designer will present the Italian premiere of another project created for BMW, an innovative material for which a patent is pending.
