The key element in the third One Night event, a series presented by Paolo Schianchi for FAB Architectural Bureau in Milan, is a video installation set up in the inner courtyard of the exhibition space run by Fiandre and Porcelaingres at Via Solferino 40 in Milan. A loop showing a selection of works by Francesco Faccin, Matteo Ferroni and Emilio Tremolada was projected onto Fiandre’s Maximum porcelain slabs in a completely dark room. A series of mirrors and reflections drew visitors into an indefinite, infinite virtual space and time.
Analysis of the three artists’ works was the starting point for the evening’s debate, all about the role of video in design, as a part of the complete process of creation, from concept to conclusion and then becoming a part of history. Co-curator Mara Corradi focused attention on the changes currently underway due to social networks such as Youtube, Vimeo and Facebook. "Practically everything is now online, and videos are made to be seen on portable devices, in the office or at home, with no distinction, while HD encourages us to choose the audio-visual format over other forms of information. Just as places and times are becoming hybrid, video products are combining film with advertising, television reporting with entertainment, theatre with performance art. In this context, the installation showcases a number of Italian experiences focusing on the theme of design”.
