The Manser Medal is an award presented by RIBA to the “best residential construction” in the United Kingdom. In 2011 the award was presented to a home in Highgate, in the north of London, by Duggan Morris Architects.
The original building was built in 1968 and renovated repeatedly before it was entrusted to Duggan Morris Architects.
The project included overall redesigning of the interiors and the garden, replacing the main structure with steel girders and pillars to permit a larger living room and bedroom.
The design solutions adopted transformed the home and gave it a contemporary flavour. The architects attempted to re-establish links, including visual connections, between the indoor spaces used in everyday life and the garden.
