Brooks + Scarpa - HMC Architects, Los Angeles Hall of Justice
The list of architectural practices invited to participate in the competition for the new Federal Hall of Justice in Los Angeles includes Skidmore Owings & Merrill + Clark, Yazdani Studio of Cannon Design and Gruen Associates + Hensel Phelps, Brooks + Scarpa and HMC Architects + McCarthy, NBBJ Architects + Mortensen.

Brooks + Scarpa Architects unveiled the project presented by their team with HMC Architects and McCarthy Builders.

The architects drew their inspiration for the project from the symbols of law and justice. The building?s shape, for instance, recalls a big natural arch, while modern materials are used to reinterpret the decorative elements typical of American buildings of this type.
Their proposal goes beyond the set goals for energy conservation and sustainability, for the architects? solutions would qualify the building for LEED Platinum certification.
