The winners of the AIASF 2015 Design Awards The American Institute of Architects, San Francisco chapter (AIASF) has announced the winners of the AIASF 2015 Design Awards program. The winners were awarded in particular for their sustainable design.

The winners of the 2015 AISAF Design Awards program have been selected from the over 200 submissions received by the San Francisco chapter of the American Institute of Architects for the three categories (architecture, interior architecture and unbuilt design) and the three concentrations - historic preservation, urban design and social responsibility.

The chapter recognises the importance of sustainable design and in 2003 it introduced a separate award category for energy and sustainability. The great influence of sustainability on the architecture and design profession as a whole, has transformed the way buildings are designed, built and maintained. Therefore, the 2015 Design Awards program incorporated the fulfilment of sustainable design principles into all categories.

The 2015 AISAF Design Awards are a way of celebrating the creative community in the Bay Area, which has always focussed on environmental impact without ever losing sight of the visual impact and ties to the territory, as we can see in the winning designs and commendations.

AIASF 2015 President, Irving A. Gonzales, used these words to comment on the awards: "We applaud our architects, designers and their collaborativ teams for their commitment to the local built environment and look forward to continuing to highlight the value of architecture, great design, placemaking and sustainability through these outstanding projects."

Projects that we will explore in more detail over the next few weeks, like the energy positive relocatable classroom for Hawaii by Anderson Anderson Architecture.
