Four Acres Singapore – a leadership development centre with BCA Green Mark Platinum certification. Singapore-based DPA architecture firm designed the project for Unilever’s leadership development centre. This training facility also boasts BCA Green Mark Platinum certification.

Nepal Hill and the adjoining Rochester Park in Singapore have a great historical and natural heritage, so they are doubly protected.

Global giant Unilever located its first global leadership centre outside of the UK, in this special setting in Southeast Asia. The architects fromDPA have designed a facility that meets the multinational’s training needs and also adheres to the environmental requirements set in place by local authorities.

The U shape of the training facility nestles into its green setting, leaving room for the existing wooded area. The result is a unique shape, set off by the undulating roof that follows the contours of Nepal Hill.

The two volumes of the compound, – the four-storey training block and the recreation block – are separate but at the same time engage closely with each other and with the natural green backdrop. The large windows and skylights reduce the need for artificial light, and the architects adopted design solutions that minimise the facility’s environmental impact. As a result, the facility was awarded BCA Green Mark Platinum – the Singapore building authority’s most prestigious award for eco-compatible buildings.
