The home designed by 3LHD architectural studios stands on a steep slope in a panoramic location overlooking the centre of the city of Dubrovnik and the island of Lokrum.
House U includes three residential units divided into two buildings with a large shared outdoor space and a panoramic patio.
The two volumes are not completely separate, for a big wooden pergola joins them and creates a pleasant shady area on the patio. The swimming pool is located in front of one of the homes, lower than the shared patio so that it doesn’t block the view from the living rooms.
Big glass surfaces give the living rooms in the house beautiful views of the sea and Dubrovnik harbour. The windows become deep cuts in the solid white volumes of the construction, which is covered by quarried stone blocks measuring 8x120 cm.
