00 Architecture The Foundry Social Justice Centre London

The 00 Architecture architectural practice transformed an old shoe factory dating back to the 20th century of Vauxhall, south London, into a welcoming centre for voluntary associations and human rights organisations, called “The Foundry Social Justice Centre”.
The project received several awards, including the RIBA London Building of the Year 2015, and recently the ArchMarathon Award 2016 in the Workspaces category.
A ground floor, open and accessible to the public, and a clear organisation of the upper floors are the greatest strengths of the project, encouraging both users and the local community to collaborate and develop a sense of belonging within this space.
Each floor has a highly flexible layout, thus allowing the partitions to be organised very differently, or to be completely removed, creating open spaces. Wide corridors and rest areas promote fortuitous meetings and interaction between the operators of the various organisations working at the Centre.
