Various Associates and a blue and white Art High School in Shenzhen

The Chinese architecture firm Various Associates was commissioned with the design of an Art High School in Shenzhen. The School is focused on international arts programmes, affiliated with the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (GAFA). The new campus is the result of the transformation of several abandoned buildings along the river, in an urban village.

Various Associates and the (SO)What store in Chengdu

The Chinese-based Various Associates studio has designed the new boutique of the (SO)What women's clothing brand, which emphasises the freedom to choose one's own style, drawing inspiration from the cultural history of Chengdu, a city known for its traditional Shu operas. The shop presents itself as a theatrical stage for customers, where the spaces are structured like the acts of an opera.

Circular economy and design: a pavilion by Various Associates

Chinese design firm Various Associates has been commissioned by the Shenzhen Institute of Interior Design to create the pavilion for the DESIGN IN BAY AREA exhibition. Various Associates made use of recycled materials, a modular construction method to reduce waste, and the circular economy in light of the temporary nature of the installation.

The Chinese studio, Various Associates, has designed the interiors of a refurbishment project in the district of Nantou, Shenzhen, an exhibition gallery of urban memory. The venue tells the story of the past, present and future of the current transformation taking place in what used to be the heart of the Shenzhen metropolis.
