Winners of the 2022 Mies van der Rohe Award

The Town House designed by Grafton Architects won the last RIBA Stirling Prize and has now taken home the 2022 European Union Mies van der Rohe Award for Contemporary Architecture. The Emerging Architecture award goes to La Borda Cooperative Housing in Lacol, Barcelona.

The seven finalists for the European Union Award for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award 2022

The finalists for the 2022 Mies van der Rohe Award, the European Union Award for Contemporary Architecture, include five works in the "Architecture" category and two works of "Emerging Architecture". The international panel of judges will visit the seven projects in the month of March and announce the two winners at the end of April. In May, as usual, the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona will host the awards ceremony and an exhibition of the finalist projects.

The finalists of the Mies van der Rohe Award 2022

On January 17 the jury of the Mies van der Rohe Award 2022, chaired by architect Tatiana Bilbao, announced the projects selected for the European Union's Biennial Contemporary Architecture Award. A total of 40 works, considered representative of current European architectural trends, with particular attention to the themes of sustainability and circularity, social inclusion and aesthetic research.

449 Architectural projects submitted for the Mies van der Rohe Award

The list of 449 architectural projects submitted for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2022, located in 279 cities in 41 countries, was announced on February 2. 514 architectural practices compete for the European Union’s most important award for architecture, presented by the European Commission and Fundació Mies van der Rohe. For the first time, the current edition also includes works built in Armenia, Moldavia and Tunisia.
