UID: a home between the earth and the sky in Fukuyama
Keisuke Maeda (UID Architects) has designed a home that brings together earth and sky. The shape of Node, as the Japanese architect’s latest work is called, incorporates an intersection of the layouts of the two levels, which are linked by a staircase, but the true connection is where the trees grow out of the house, reconciling the natural and built environments.

Baan Dumneon, holiday home in Thailand
On the basis of the principles of bioarchitecture, Methus Srisuchart and Ginggal Metchanun have built a holiday home in the Damnoen Saduak district near Bangkok, which they entered in the Next Landmark international architecture contest organized by Floornature. The building’s orientation, use of local materials and the flexibility of the walls permitting natural ventilation are the principles underlining the design of the project, with its form inspired by traditional Thai homes.

French architect Christian Pottgiesser experiments with a new kind of dwelling for a family living in the countryside outside Paris, combining architecture with greenery. The project’s form and composition allow the concrete construction to fit into the big garden like a work of contemporary art.

Chilean architecture firm, Elton+Leiniz has extended an existing home with a second living unit, keeping both apartments independent without altering the balance of the volumes.
