Morphogenesis, House 2, New Delhi

Ville, Residences, Sport & Wellness,

A residential project offers the architects an opportunity to consider two essential issues: the family as social unit and the environment.

Morphogenesis, House 2, New Delhi
The architects of Indian studio Morphogenesis considered the design of a family home in New Delhi an opportunity to reflect on and investigate two issues they see as central to contemporary architectural design: the family as social unit and the environment.

The lifestyle of the Indian family has changed profoundly in the age of the global village and the internet, transforming demand for domestic spaces and comfort as a result. The architects radically revise the concept of the courtyard and divide the interior into three areas according to the different degrees of privacy their functions demand.

The building becomes a porous object permeated by natural ventilation and the sun?s rays, and the Morphogenesis architects limit energy requirements with technical and construction features such as a barrel roof and a big swimming pool that absorbs heat from the terrace above it.
