“Prouvé RAW”, a collection of seventeen reinterpretations of furnishings inspired by the iconic designs of Jean Prouvé and made by G-Star’s creative team, are on show before the public June 16 through July 31 at the Fire Station designed by Zaha Hadid at Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein.

The collection was designed after two years of research work involving G-Star, the Prouvé family and Vitra to give a contemporary look to a number of well-known designs by Jean Prouvé, and at the same time to rediscover some of the artist’s lesser-known projects.

Jean Prouvé was born in 1901 in Paris, and after working as an ironmonger and an engineer he opened an industrial furniture production plant. His approach to design reflects his background, and his objects are inspired by needs, by their function, by the essence of materials, construction and production, rather than by form, though they have a poetic aura of their own.
