C+S Architects and BALANCE Architettura winners of the Festa dell'Architetto awards

On December 16 the Festa dell'Architetto event was concluded, dedicated to the theme of "the fight against climate change and territorial care" and the annual awards of the National Council of Italian Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservationists (CNAPPC) were handed out, now in their 10th edition.
The jury, chaired by Portuguese architect Goncalo Byrne, awarded the two main prizes and four special mentions, two for each category.
The C+S Architects studio founded by architects Carlo Cappai and Maria Alessandra Segantini received the main "Architetto/a italiano/a 2022" (Italian Architect 2022) prize, with the Residential Towers work built in Milan in 2022. In addition to appreciating the efficiency and quality of the work in the competition, the jury highlighted how the designers work in the groove the Italian tradition, tackling a wide variety of projects, succeeding in passing from history to innovation thanks to their consolidated professional activity. The two special mentions given out in this section went to the Bricolo Falsarella associati studio founded by architect Filippo Bricolo for the Il Brolo della Cantina Gorgo work awarded through a competition in Custoza, Sommacampagna (VR), and to the Carlana Mezzalira Pentimalli studio founded by architects Michel Carlana, Luca Mezzalira and Curzio Pentimalli for the "Civic Library project in Brixen, (BZ).

The "Giovane Talento dell'Architettura Italiana 2022" (Young Talent of Italian Architecture 2022) prize was, instead, awarded to the BALANCE Architettura studio founded by architects Alberto Lessan and Jacopo Bracco. In the "Brands distribution" project submitted for the competition, the jury emphasised the studio's refined and sartorial approach. In particular, the jurors appreciated how research on materials and surfaces is associated with careful artisanal know-how. Despite the plurality of design themes addressed, the jury noted how the studio managed to maintain a consistent common line.
Like the main section, the jury also awarded two special mentions in the young talent category, which went to the Cereza Architetti studio founded by architect Stefano Ceresa, for the House in the woods work, in Faggeto Lario (CO), and to the Atelier Poem founded by architects Alice Cecchini and Roman Joliy, for the Chapel of tears work in Saint- Ferréol (Haute-Savoie), France.
