Ceramics: Neverending Artworks exhibition at Clerkenwell Design Week

From 29 April to 3 June, the Iris Ceramica Group’s London flagship store in Old Street (61-67) presents the exhibition Ceramics: Neverending Artworks by Iris Ceramica Group in collaboration with Antonia Jannone - Disegni di Architettura. The occasion is Clerkenwell Design Week, held 24 through 26 May in Clerkenwell, in the heart of London’s design district, where new trends and creative experiments, enterprises and artists have taken the place of the factories and industrial warehouses of what used to be considered the city’s Italian quarter.
Ceramics: Neverending Artworks, a huge success in Milan, exhibits a selection of over twenty iconic ceramic artworks by eleven world-famous designers: Aldo Cibic, Andrea Branzi, Ettore Sottsass, George Sowden, Luigi Serafini, Marco Zanini, Martine Bedin, Matteo Thun, Michele De Lucchi, Nathalie Du Pasquier, and Peter Shire. The selected artworks fit into this lively, creative London neighbourhood, encouraging reflection and discussion of design and technical and poetic experimentation with ceramic materials. On 24 and 25 May, during Clerkenwell Design Week, the exhibition will culminate in a live performance by street artist Camilla Falsini, who will create a work of art on Iris Ceramica Group ceramic surfaces with the active involvement of the audience. Her inspiration will be the graphic style, patterns, colours and asymmetries of the Memphis movement, iconic examples of which will be on display in the exhibition.
The events coming up in the Group’s London flagship store demonstrate how an art like ceramics with deep roots in human history can continue to evolve and respond to stimuli from a variety of different contexts, including culture, art and design, in a process flanked by the Iris Ceramica Group’s vision of ceramics as the perfect combination of art and technology. Supported by non-stop research and innovation of international scientific value, as demonstrated by the certifications and European patents the Group has obtained, this vision has allowed the Group to create ceramic surfaces that make people’s lives easier, healthier and more sustainable, such as sustainable eco-active Active Surfaces® and Hypertouch, smart surfaces for home automation.
