World Habitat Awards 2017-18 Entries must be submitted by 1 March 2017 for the World Habitat Awards 2017-18, the architecture award for housing projects that demonstrate practical, innovative and sustainable solutions to current housing needs, run by the Building and Social Housing Foundation (BSHF) in partnership with UN-Habitat.

For a while now, Livegreenblog has been keeping an eye on the different initiatives of the Building and Social Housing Foundation (BSHF), established in 1976 to drive social change through architecture. Architecture for everyone, community-led where possible.
Undeniably, their most important initiative is the World Habitat Award, which was rolled out in 1985 to promote good habitat practices for disadvantaged and homeless people (link).
The award organisers are looking for housing projects and approaches that demonstrate practical, innovative and sustainable solutions to address current housing issues faced by countries all over the world. They also want proposals that can be transferred or adapted for use as appropriate.
The projects must be already implemented or completed to be eligible for the WHA.
In addition, they must also view habitat from a broad perspective and bring other benefits as well, such as energy or water saving, income generation, social inclusion, community and individual empowerment, health benefits, capacity building or education. So, we're talking about all-round sustainable design.
Two outstanding housing projects will be selected as winners and will have the chance to attend the award ceremony at a global UN event in 2018.
All entries for the 2017-18 must be received by 1 March 2017.
