The Festival des Architectures Vives in Montpellier - FAV2016 The Festival des Architectures Vives that animated the city of Montpellier and La Grande Motte in June has announced the winners of the photography competition, and is caling for submissions for FAV2016.

Architectural installations scattered through the urban environment. On the one hand, Montpellier with its abounding architectural heritage, and on the other in the tourist destination of La Grande Motte in the Gulf of Lyons.

Two locations that were graced with projects by teams of architects, focusing in particular on the new generations of designers and giving them an exceptional opportunity to try out their skills in an urban setting. A combination that creates interaction between cities and visitors and that met with resounding success, also proven by the number of visitors (more than 20,000!) and by the many photos of the projects.

In actual fact, the Festival des Architectures Vives has just announced the opening of registrations for the next FAV2016 under the motto “Innover” (innovate) to construct 10 installations in Montpellier and 8 in La Grande Motte.

A very topical issue referencing the guidelines of the French Ministry for Culture report in July, which stated “Unlike industrialized objects, architecture produces located unique works that maintain a unique relationship with the people and the environment. In this, architecture produces “prototypes” that make up each time an opportunity to innovate”. Never a truer word was spoken, even more so if we think of architecture as a highly technological tradecraft, from the materials to the techniques through to how it is represented.
This last point was the object of the photography competition organised by FAV2015 and won by Mary Loo and Maguelone Venzac with iconic photos of temporary landmarks.
