TechnoAlpin head offices by Roland Baldi Architects and VWN Architects

With his design of the TechnoAlpin head office in Bolzano, the architect Roland Baldi with VWN Architects has come up with a building shape that references its business activity and that is also environmentally friendly. The heated parts of the TechnoAlpin head offices are certified to CasaClima B standard.



When you arrive in Bolzano from the motorway, you are immediately struck by a building as white as freshly fallen snow. TechnoAlpin manufactures snow-making systems for the ski runs and chose architect Roland Baldi and VWN Architects to design their new head offices.
 





The building’s appearance alone communicates the company’s close ties with snow and the mountains. These ties with nature are not limited to the façade, because the project designed by Roland Baldi and VWN Architects also considers the environment and the heated parts of the building are certified to CasaClima B standard.





The building’s layout follows the needs of the production process and the large translucent windows in its facades let suffused natural light flow into the interior. Then when it’s dark, they provide a beacon-like effect, underscoring the landmark role of the built volume.



The green areas outside are in the vicinity of the offices and have been carefully designed to reference snow-covered forests forming the backdrop for ski runs.





Skiing is the epitome of a nature-bound sport and the project by Roland Baldi and VWN Architects for Technoalpin reflects this sustainable vocation: a pearl of industrial architecture that was also a winner in the Best Architect 2014 awards.
