- 53rd IFLA World Congress in Turin

“Tasting the Landcape” is the theme of this year's IFLA World Congress, organised by the Italian association of landscape architecture (AIAPP), which represents IFLA in Italy, with the City of Turin. The accent is on the outer suburban areas - the city edges merging into the countryside - where so many of the challenges of sustainability for new millennium cities are played out.

The congress will be structured into four theme areas: Sharing Landscapes, focused on the production of food in cities and outer suburbs; Connected Landscapes, generating new economies by changing places and territories; Layered Landscapes, exploring stratified landscapes and lastly Inspiring Landscapes, centred on the construction of collective images and on the active conservation of the shared poetic and cultural patrimony. The Youngscape section specifically targets young professionals and students.

Livegreenblog will be attending to give a live blog from Turin about the debate on landscape environment and culture as an integral element of the development of a country, given that it improves the quality of life and makes territories more attractive, by favouring their economic development.
