An exhibition whose very title is a declaration of love for the territory, the Swiss Canton of Grisons. Love that is shown in the architecture designed by the Bearth & Deplazes Architekten studio, founded by architects Valentin Bearth, Andrea Deplazes and Daniel Ladner, and presented in Prague at theGalerie Jaroslava Fragnera, until 31st August 2017.
Designs by the Bearth & Deplazes Architekten studio were created in special and sometimes difficult settings, like those of the Alps. Places in which the architects had to mediate between the inclination to valorise typical elements of local architecture and, and the same time, avoid the historical and touristic clichés often linked to that very architecture. This compromise is often not achieved, if one thinks of the role that these touristic buildings have in the Alpine landscape of the Canton and how they have become part of the identity of these places and their architectural heritage.
Architecture by the Bearth & Deplazes studio becomes a means of meeting the need for quality local architecture and searching for connections with places. The architects’ research is aimed at identifying those architectural elements that have become part of the cultural and spatial identity of the territory and which are essential.
