Area Progetti and Una2 Le Creste Cultural Centre Rosignano Marittimo

The plan for “Le Creste” Cultural Centre built by AREA PROGETTI and UNA2 architectural studios in Rosignano Marittimo (LI) is carefully defined in every way, not only in its architecture and interior design but in visual communications too, creating a unique, immediately recognisable image and identity.
The Cultural Centre allowed the architects to resolve an important urban node on the site, redeveloping a marginal area with new spaces for cultural and recreational functions: a library, a coffee shop and periodicals library, a toy library, a youth information centre and a multi-purpose space.
In terms of layout, the construction forms a slab with a single level above ground, a covered pedestrian path which crosses the volume and divides it into three separate blocks while providing access to various different functions. A concrete dune 3.20 m high keeps out noise from the nearby railway and fences in the garden for open-air readings.
Use of innovative technologies permitted improvement of the building’s energy performance.
