Alterstudio Partners, MedaTeca library

Sport & Wellness, Libraries,

A new library and cultural centre has just opened in the town of Meda, the "MedaTeca", designed by Alterstudio Partners.

Alterstudio Partners, MedaTeca library
Architect Muscogiuri of Alterstudio Partners transformed an existing unfinished building in the town of Meda into a new cultural centre.
The architect doubled the volume of the existing building, which had been abandoned for about twenty years, and radically changed its façades with custom-designed burgundy aluminium panelling. The colours and materials attempt to establish a direct relationship with the public which is clear through the big windows overlooking the street, two storeys high.

Inside the building, brightly lit spaces two floors high with the top floor overlooking the one below invite visitors to explore every part of the library. With more than 1900 square metres of floor space, the library has areas for everything, from a whole floor of children?s books to areas for teenagers, study halls, a multipurpose event and conference hall, a refreshment area, etc.
All its functions are flexibly arranged to permit use independently of each other, even when the rest of the building is closed.
