The winners of the 2012 Zukunft Wohnen award for residential architecture in Germany have been announced.

2012 Zukunft Wohnen Award
The judges chose the six winners of the 2012 Zukunft Wohnen awards from among about 300 projects competing for the prize for best residential building constructed in German in the past year.
The prize was first awarded in 1994, and has been presented to new and renovated concrete buildings for the past 20 years.

The competition is exclusively for residential buildings, which the organisers view as our architectural heritage of the future: good reason for the competition organisers to offer an incentive to build housing projects of exemplary quality.

The six competition categories are an expression of different lifestyles, from the city to country living and major housing projects included in city planning schemes, housing projects built in collaboration with various residents and low cost housing projects. Below is a list of the competition categories and winning architectural studios:
"City living" Unterlandstättner Architekten
"Country living" Rainer Roth Architekten
"Living in historic buildings" KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten
"Living in the community" MOSAIK-Architekten
"Living in the environment" Christoph Meyn Architekt
"Budget living" Christof Mayer (Büro für Architektur und Städtebau)
