The winners of the 2017 Barbara Capocchin International Architecture Biennial
The winners of the eighth Barbara Capocchin International Architecture Biennial have been announced. The awards are presented to buildings constructed in the past three years with the goal of "underlining architecture’s central role and responsibility in the process of transformation of landscapes".
The judges, presided by architect Livio Sacchi (CNAPPC representative) and composed of Francisco Mangado, Roger Riewe (representing the Architects’ Council of Europe, ACE) and Marc Di Domenico (representing the International Union of Architects, UIA), have awarded a first prize and a number of honourable mentions in each of the two categories, international and regional.
The winner in the international section is architect Varavarn Varudh of Vin Varavarn Architects for the "Post Disaster School" project, a school designed after the 2014 earthquake in Thailand.
Honourable mentions were awarded to:
“Baza Employment Training Centre” - architect Stanislao Fierro.
“Wugglyhouse” - Ifdesign, architect Franco Tagliabue Volontè.
The "Casa del sole" by architects Maria Claudia Clemente and Francesco Isidori of LABICS won a special mention of the jury.
The first prize in the regional section was awarded to architect Mirco Simonato for the "Corte del Commiato, cemetery expansion and renewal project in Megliadino S. Vitale".
The honourable mentions in the regional section were:
"Pizzolato – the winery with organic roots" by Made Associati
"Corte Bertesina" by Traverso-Vighy Architetti
