The first project to be built under the Solo Houses programme is a holiday home designed by Mauricio Pezo and Sofia von Ellrichshausen in Cretas, in the Matarraña region of southern Catalonia. An ideal expression of contemporary Chilean architecture, the home subverts the concepts of indoors and outdoors, using the landscape as its spatial horizon.
The influence of the Solo Pezo in Cretas may be seen in the new Guna House in Llacolen (Chile), also by the Chilean studio Pezo von Ellrichshausen. Pezo von Ellrichshausen’s architecture contrasts with nature, but the bold geometric construction of the Guna House also emphasises it.
Symmetrical and woven around the intersection of geometric figures, in both layout and perspective, the Rode house is perfectly consistent with the artistic philosophy of Chilean studio Pezo von Ellrichshausen.
Mauricio Pezo and Sofia von Ellrichshausen’s Casa Loba extends out over the Pacific Ocean like a rock polished by water. In Casa Loba, in Tome, Chile, Pezo von Ellrichshausen force spatial proportions to offer another example of enigmatic architecture in a wild natural setting.
