DAAZ Office Jadgal Elementary School Iran
The project designed by DAAZ Office in Seyyed Bar, Iran, is the result of a participatory study supported by all the village inhabitants who invited the commissioning NGO to build a school that could become a centre of sustainable development for the whole community. The project was selected as one of the finalists for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture.

The Aban House by Mohammad Arab and Mina Moeineddini (USE Studio) is a potential new housing model for Middle Eastern cities. Faced with the collapse of both political and social horizons, this house in Isfahan, Iran is an attempt to address the alienation of the individual, starting from the space of private life.

Mehdizadeh: architecture with recycled cladding in Mahallat
Ramin Mehdizadeh in Mahallat is an example of a housing complex and shopping centre in which contemporary architecture is rooted in local tradition. Inspired by the presence of stone quarries in the area, the project uses scrap stone from quarry processes as a cladding material: a sustainable, money-saving project that has won the favour of local builders and been shortlisted for the 2013 Aga Khan Award for Architecture.
