The themes of COP26 and of the Venice Biennale in the webinars organised by the Iris Ceramica Group

The last week of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of the Biennale di Venezia also saw the conclusion of the offer of webinars promoted by the Iris Ceramica Group as part of Resilient Communities - Italian Pavilion and organised by The Plan magazine. Thanks to the contributions of the many and important international guests, the themes covered by COP26, the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties, were addressed and adapted to the architectural landscape. Moreover, the virtuous processes of urban regeneration carried out in various so-called Italian media cities were also presented, which saw a high and interested participation of the part of the public.

17th International Architecture Exhibition, How will we live together? inaugurated at Biennale di Venezia

May 22 marks the official opening to the public of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition at Biennale di Venezia. Speaking during the press conference held at Teatro Piccolo Arsenale, finally in person, president Roberto Cicutto focused on the figures for participation in the 2021 edition and the great collective effort that made it all possible. The curator, architect Hashim Sarkis, spoke of the issues addressed by the international exhibition and the need for a new spatial contract offering possible new ways of living together.

On Saturday 22 May, the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale, curated by Hashim Sarkis, opened a year late. The curator's question "How will we live together" was answered in many different ways, with much research into the past and present but limited visions of the future.

Biennale President Roberto Cicutto and curator Hashim Sarkis have confirmed the dates of the 17th International Architecture exhibition, entitled “How will we live together?”, May 22 through November 21, 2021 at the Giardini, the Arsenale and Forte Marghera, with the usual pre-opening on May 20 and 21. The live-streamed presentation saw the participation of Christopher Turner, who, along with Ella Kilgallon, curates the 2021 Applied Arts Pavilion under a partnership between La Biennale di Venezia and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

New dates for the Venice Architecture Biennale, Expo Dubai and Cersaie 2020

Biennale di Venezia’s 17th International Architecture Exhibition is the latest in a long list of international events rescheduled due to the travel restrictions and physical distancing requirements imposed to limit the spread of the covid-19 pandemic. Before the Venice event, new dates had already been announced for Expo in Dubai, originally scheduled for the autumn of 2020 but now postponed until 2021, and Cersaie, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings in Bologna, traditionally held in September but postponed until November in 2020.

New dates for the 2020 International Architecture Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia

August 29 through November 29 are the new dates announced by Biennale di Venezia for the 17th International Architecture Exhibition, entitled "How will we live together?" and curated by architect Hashim Sarkis. The change is necessary to give institutions and architects from more than 60 countries all over the world time to complete the set-up of the pavilions and the international exhibition.

How will we live together? 17th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice

“How will we live together?”, the 17th International Architecture Exhibition curated by Hashim Sarkis and organised by Biennale di Venezia was presented to the press on 27 February, via streaming in view of the new coronavirus covid-19 and in the name of a form of architecture that unites us all. On this occasion Paolo Baratta announced that this would be his last day as chairman, handing over the organisation of the Biennale di Venezia to the new chairman, Roberto Cicutto.

Hashim Sarkis named Curator of the 2020 Architecture Exhibition at Biennale Venezia

Hashim Sarkis takes over from Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara. The architect of Lebanese origin was appointed by the Biennale di Venezia Board of Directors on December 18 as Director of the Architecture Section specifically in charge of curating the 17th International Architecture exhibition coming up in 2020.
