Aware of the importance of interventions on pre-existing architectures as a sustainable act, the international jury of the 6th edition of the European Award Architectural Heritage Intervention (AHI) recognised, in the various categories, projects focused on inclusiveness in social housing and urban cultural structures.

Menis: Holy Redeemer church in Tenerife

Packed with symbolism relating to the natural world, Fernando Menis’s plan for the church of the Redeemer in Tenerife is a mountain with peaks and craters, earth broken up by telluric motions, a cavern with a spirit of its own. Architecture imitates landscape, with cement alluding to compact rock, cutting off the inside of the church from the outside world.
