Polyanna Paraskeva, Cocoon, Messinia
Cocoon is a little complex designed by architect Polyanna Paraskeva for Costa Navarino, a project for development of eco-sustainable tourism in Messinia, Greece which incorporates a number of different facilities and services, including Cocoon and SandCastle, two mini-clubs where the children are involved in creative activities and learning about the history and nature of the place.

Cocoon was designed by architect Polyanna Paraskeva for children up to the age of 3. As the name suggests, the building is an ideal "cocoon" protecting and sheltering the children; a construction which rises out of the earth with fluid, organic forms blending into the landscape.
The space inside the construction is divided into little "nests" where the architect uses different materials and colours to distinguish between different activities.
Roof gardens and correct north/south orientation permit use of sunlight and natural ventilation. Design in line with the principles of strong>bioclimatic architecture reinforces the building?s relationship with the land.
