Fallingwater: Frank Lloyd Wright Patkau Architects Cottages

In Pennsylvania's Bear Run nature reserve, named after the spring made famous by Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, Patkau Architects have designed 6 cottages literally immersed in nature.
The Canadian architects won the competition held by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, owner of the monument, to mark the 75th anniversary of the construction of Fallingwater and provide the site with new lodgings for participants in educational programmes organised by the institution, coming up with a project that may truly be called poetic.

The cottages take the form of an intensification of the site's natural morphology.
Cuts in the land provide the homes with proper lighting and ventilation.

In the living room area the cottages are open onto the meadow, while the bedrooms are in the closed-in part of the homes. The interiors are decorated with materials requiring little maintenance, in light colours to create a warm, cosy environment.
