Eleven wineries, three from South Tyrol and eight from other Italian regions, are the protagonists of the exhibition entitled "Nuove cantine italiane - Territori e architetture" curated by Roberto Bosi and Francesca Chiorino as part of the annual programme of the Merano Arte artistic association. The selected works are excellent examples of quality contemporary architectures, combined with environmental and landscape elements, as well as with the specific needs of today’s wine industry.

The exhibition entitled "Nuove cantine italiane - Territori e architetture" (New Italian wineries - Territories and architecture) curated by Roberto Bosi and Francesca Chiorino is set to open its doors to the public on October 28 and will run until November 20. Part of the annual programme of the Merano Arte artistic association, the exhibition will take visitors on a journey through some of the most beautiful and recent Italian wineries, presented individually through large-format photographs and collectively in an explanatory catalogue. In recent years the sector linked to Italy’s wine industry has seen its attractiveness in the tourism sector grow dramatically, ranking second only to cultural sites. Indeed, there are over 20,000 wineries open throughout the Italian territory and in the last twenty years many new ones have emerged. Wineries, and with them all the various wine production sites, have become the subject of numerous architectural exhibitions and debates, with important examples of excellence also seen on the international contemporary architecture scene, like the iconic winery designed by the Herzog and de Meuron architecture firm in Napa Valley, in California, between 1995 and 1998.

The exhibition curated by Roberto Bosi and Francesca Chiorino fits into this context, presenting eleven projects – three from South Tyrol and eight from other Italian regions – as examples of excellence made in Italy. The wineries selected for the exhibition represent a perfect synthesis between a contemporary agricultural company, at the forefront of its field, and architectural works that can be considered important points of reference for the sector. In these projects, in fact, the high quality of construction is combined with respect and enhancement of environmental and landscape aspects, as well as with the specific needs of today’s wine industry. The exhibition has been organised in conjunction with the 31st edition of the Merano WineFestival and developed in collaboration with CASABELLA and the same festival.
