Make Architects and Ken Shuttleworth for The Architects Series

The Architects Series, the exhibition format that the magazine The Plan curates for Iris Ceramica Group has reached an important milestone, as Make Architects and its founder, the architect Ken Shuttleworth, will be the protagonists of the 25th episode. The event will take place on 6 October and will be live streamed from the London flagship store of Iris Ceramica Group. Indeed, you will be able to follow it in live streaming by registering on the Group's digital platform. According to the established format, in the first part of “The Architects Series - A documentary on: Make Architects” there will be a screening of the docu-film dedicated to the studio that will take viewers behind the scenes to discover the architects' modus operandi and their recent and ongoing projects. Following this, architect Ken Shuttleworth will deliver the lecture "The Art of Expression - celebrating the power of communication through drawing".

The interest in and predilection for communicating design through architectural drawing is a hallmark of the studio, linked both to the collaborations it has established over the years with important and diverse artists, and to its founder's great passion for drawing. Ken Shuttleworth has, in fact, amusingly been nicknamed “Ken the Pen”; In addition, through his studio Make Architects, he is one of the organisers and promoters, together with Sir John Soane’s Museum in London and the World Architecture Festival (WAF), of the famous The Architecture Drawing Prize. The award, reserved for the representation of architecture, celebrates the art and craftsmanship of architectural drawing and, for the 2022 edition, benefits from the sponsorship of Iris Ceramica Group and Floornature as its European media partner.
It is precisely the ability to communicate a project through architectural drawing that will be the focus of the lecture by architect Ken Shuttleworth. The event will also be an opportunity to review the architect's fascinating career from his beginnings at Foster and Partner to the creation of Make, and ongoing projects in many parts of the world, as well as the firm's commitment to leaving a legacy of resilient, lifetime carbon-neutral works.
