Sabine Marcelis, Vitra Design Museum,

Two important additions enrich the Vitra Campus collection. From May 14 at the Vitra Schaudepot, the "exhibition depot" designed by the Herzog & De Meuron studio, it is possible to visit Luis Barragán's Archive, the most important Mexican architect of the 20th century. On the same day "Colour Rush! An Installation by Sabine Marcelis" was also inaugurated. The Dutch designer has conceived a new installation based on colour to present to the public, in a whole new perspective, the permanent collection kept in the Vitra Schaudepot.

After the famous "Luis Barragán: The Quiet Revolution" traveling exhibition realised in 2000, the Barragan Foundation and the Vitra Design Museum have created a new important collaboration aimed at the diffusion of the works created by Luis Barragán (1902-1988), the most important Mexican architect of the 20th century and Pritzker Prize winner in 1980. On the Vitra campus, the Mexican architect's Archive will be housed in a new location conceived by Dieter Thiel, in close proximity to the Vitra Schaudepot, the "exhibition depot" designed by the Herzog & De Meuron studio. The Barragán Archive was presented to the public on May 14 and consists of a heritage of about 13,500 sketches, drawings, plans and other documents, an equal number of photographic prints, slides and negatives, as well as models, furniture and various objects. The initiative aims to disseminate greater knowledge and facilitate studies and research on Luis Barragán's architecture, as well as collaborations between the Archive and other institutions. It also enriches the archival heritage of the Vitra Design Museum, which also houses the archives of important designers such as Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard, Anton Lorenz, George Nelson and Verner Panton.

Also on May 14, "Colour Rush! An Installation by Sabine Marcelis" was also inaugurated. Every year the collection of the Vitra Design Museum is presented to the public in a fresh light. Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis conceived the new annual installation based entirely on colour. In a simple yet revolutionary gesture, all the objects on display in the Vitra Schaudepot have been rearranged and displayed according to colour. A great tribute to the central role of colour in design, which has given rise to fascinating cross-references between works from different periods and styles.< / p>
