Cities and Water 2nd Architecture Biennale in Pisa

The relationship between cities and water is the key theme of the second Architecture Biennale in Pisa, coming up in the Tuscan city November 19 through 28, 2017. Ten days of exhibitions comparing projects in Europe and all over the Mediterranean through the work of prominent studios such as Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia, BIG, Stefano Boeri, EMBT, Carlos Ferrater, Bernard Khoury, Francisco Mangado, Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Rudy Ricciotti, Alvaro Siza, Tamassociati and Topotek. An initiative that will also involve the university, with workshops for students only. Four exhibition pavilions will host displays and workshops in an exhibition route winding through the heart of the city, along the banks of the Arno.

The “International Pavilion” at the Arsenali Repubblicani, curated by Luca Molinari, will focus on constructions built in the past decade in Europe and the Mediterranean, divided into 4 theme sections. The Pisa Pavilion at Bastione Sangallo, curated by Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi, will host a variety of content centring around the ideas of the workshop focusing on the theme of the river and the shore, under a partnership between the LP association, promoter of the Biennale, and the University of Pisa. And to complete the exhibition, the “University of Pisa Pavilion”, curated by Luca Lanini, will focus on the university and the projects that arise out of its educational activities, and lastly, the Isolarchitetti Pavilion, curated directly by LP Association in Fortilizio Torre Guelfa, will host a monographic exhibition of the work of studio Gabetti and Isola – Isolarchitetti.
