Bienal Brasileira de design – Design for all The Bienal Brasileira de Design 2015 Floripa with the theme “Design for all” ended a few days ago in Florianópolis, or Floripa, as the capital of the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina is known. We are lucky enough to take a look at it through the eyes of photographer Ricardo Braescher.

The Brazilian Design Biennial has been around since 1968, and this year's edition was held from 15 May to 12 July in Florianópolis, capital of the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil, lapped by the Atlantic and famous for its innumerable island beaches.

A perfect, festive location for the Bienal Brasileira de Design that reached out to the whole city with exhibitions and events spread all over the urban territory, including the Santa Catarina museum of art (MASC) and the Museum of Image and Sound (MIS) as well as the Centro Integrado de Cultura (CIC) and the History Museum (MHSC).

The Biennale's main theme was “Design para Todos” or design for all, and curator and architect Katia Veras explored three aspects in particular - democratic design, special design and public design. The design process that starts with an idea (new proposal) to then be turned into a formal language that should be easy to understand and use. The event was accompanied by a series of international seminars and conferences.

Brazilian photographer, Ricardo Braescher shared his pictures of the various locations and products on display, giving us a small taste of the event's creative and joy-filled atmosphere.
