A sustainable neighborhood for Nantes, France

Agence a/LTA architectes has recently unveiled its designs for a sustainable neighborhood in the French city of Nantes. The plans include a lower retail block as well as three residential buildings, for a total of 142 living units.

The architects believe in the importance of offering bright, well-oriented homes with extensive views of downtown Nantes and the nearby river. In fact, most units have southern exposure to maximize solar gain during the colder months and the amount of natural light that reaches the interior and are equipped with other green technologies.

Each of the three buildings – two smaller towers and a high-rise – has its own distinct style, yet are clearly part of the larger eco-friendly neighborhood. The area between the buildings features an articulated landscaped garden that includes both vegetation and minerals!
