VID Venice Innovation Design third edition

Design and sustainability, is the fundamental and indissoluble combination on which VID Venice Innovation Design, an event but also an innovative and active workshop linked to the process of urban regeneration of the Island of San Servolo is based. For the third edition, on 16 and 17 July, a select group of 100 protagonists of the world of living: architects, designers, entrepreneurs, representatives of institutions in the sector, innovators, as well as journalists and observers from the world of design, will gather on the Venetian island to share new visions, ideas, projects and business proposals geared towards sustainability. This is a two-day programme of events, round tables and case histories, which will be held in succession, according to the rich programme curated by journalist Pierluigi Masini and coinciding with one of the Venetians' favourite festivities, the Feast of the Redeemer.

The link with the lagoon and in particular with its beating heart, represented by the island of San Servolo, has been established since the first edition. In 2018, VID supported the urban regeneration projects carried out on the island when, thanks to the collaboration of a number of companies, the following were completed: a new reception area (Cosentino and Vistosi), new rooms in the Centro Soggiorno (Attico Interni and FIMES) and a new cafeteria (LAGO). In 2021, for the second edition, which took place after the shutdown imposed by the pandemic, the new rooms designed by architect Alfonso Femia were presented. The third edition, on the other hand, will enable the public to learn about and understand the purpose of the project to redevelop the beautiful island park by landscape architect Andreas Kipar, founder and creative director of LAND. The project was presented by San Servolo srl as part of the PNRR dedicated to historical parks. In addition, in agreement with the Socio Unico Città metropolitana di Venezia and again at the third edition of VID, San Servolo srl will present an update on the work related to the construction of a photovoltaic system with load-bearing and floor structures that will make the island of San Servolo fully self-sufficient from an energy point of view. Among the important new features of VID 2022 will be the opportunity, for the first time, to follow the speeches in live streaming, and on 17 July the public will be able to visit the exhibition of innovative products made by 12 start-ups, young companies and designers, selected through the collaboration with EDIT Napoli, the editorial design fair curated by Domitilla Dardi and Emilia Petruccelli, and with #Greenheroes, the movement curated by Alessandro Gassmann and Annalisa Corrado of Kyoto Club.
