Snøhetta National September 11 Memorial Museum Pavilion - New York, USA
On May 14 US president Barack Obama opened the museum commemorating the victims of September 11 2001. The entrance pavilion is designed by Snøhetta architectural studios. The building will open to the public on May 21, 2014.

Phyllis Lambert awarded Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition - Fundamentals
On May 20 Canadian architect Phyllis Lambert was awarded a Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement. Phyllis Lambert had been nominated by the Director of the 14th International Architecture Exhibition - Fundamentals, Rem Koolhaas, and approved by the Board of Directors of the Biennale in Venice, chaired by Paolo Baratta.

Vector Architects: Vanke Group exhibition centre in Bayuquan
Vector Architects have designed a contemporary multilevel building in Bayuquan, China, an exhibition centre for the Vanke real estate group which becomes part of the city’s waterfront. The materials chosen for the building’s cladding underline a compositional solution in which the boundaries between inside and outside are blurred.

David Chipperfield Architects of Berlin, directed by architects David Chipperfield and Christoph Felger, has unanimously been chosen as the winner in the contest to design the Nobel Center – ‘Nobelhuset’ in Stockholm: the new headquarters of the prestigious Nobel Prize.

Hans Hollein passes away at Vienna.
Hans Hollein, who won the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1985 and was the director of the Venice Architecture Biennale in the years 1994-96, died April 24 in Vienna. He was 80.
