Szwalnia interior design by Karina Wiciak

Sport & Wellness,

An interior design project by designer Karina Wiciak to create an unusual place that is a cross between interior architecture and stage design.

Szwalnia interior design by Karina Wiciak

"Szwalnia, which in Polish means "sewing room" is the name of the eighth theme project created by designer Karina Wiciak for her "XII" collection. Twelve interiors, each one inspired by a specific theme that is also developed in the furniture design.

The aim of the designer is to create unusual interiors, full of symbols and metaphors referencing the chosen theme, balancing on the edge of architecture and stage design. Spaces that Karina Wiciak designs for public and commercial use, and spaces that could also become images for CD covers or for a poster.

In Szwalnia, Karina Wiciak combines modern and minimal design elements with a fable-like atmosphere and a touch of magic. The key theme of "tailoring" is evoked through symbolic elements. For example, the floor looks like it has been stitched together with black thread in a room where pure white dominates. The partitions for trying on clothes have been replaced by large surfaces of hanging cloth, small poufs look like huge pincushions and even the lamps are inspired by large curtain tassel.
