From close-up to overall view

Juan Baraja Rodríguez departs from the classic canons of architectural photography in his exploration of the Águas Livres housing development, a project by Portuguese architect Nuno Teotónio Pereira dating back to the 1950s in Lisbon.
The young Spanish photographer’s study goes beyond the classic photo feature of pure extemporaneous vision.
The photographer focuses on the details of this historic building, the construction of which involved not only architects but artists and designers too, producing a complete work of art.
And so he portrays shapes, lines and compositions which, combined with careful study of light, create a highly personal image of the Águas Livres project.
An overall view made up of details that form a complete composition, in a photographic synthesis alluding to the microcosmos of the apartment building, inhabited by so many different people, each with his or her own character.
