KANVA: 2015 Emerging Architectural Practice Award (RAIC) Multidisciplinary firm KANVA recipient of the 2015 Emerging Architectural Practice Award given by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC). An award for the transforming power of forward-looking architecture.

Canadian multidisciplinary firm KANVA, led by Tudor Radulescu (OAQ LEED PA MRAIC) and Rami Bebawi (OAQ MRAIC RBQ), was founded in 2003, promoting the idea of complete architecture where the architect is also artist and educator.

A design approach much appreciated by the jury of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC), which was impressed by the ability of KANVA to continually innovate and manage risk in architecture.

The 2015 Emerging Architectural Practice Award RAIC is added to a number of other awards, including the 2013 RAIC Award of Excellence for Innovation in Architecture. KANVA recently won the Warming Huts competition in Winnipeg, with an installation called “Recycling Words”, connecting words with spatial exploration, and the international “Space for life” architecture competition to re-imagine the Montreal Biodome.

So, KANVA has consolidated its role in the Canadian architecture scene and the pictures of their works clearly show the transformative power of their built and designed architecture.

In the near future we’ll be taking a closer look at their built projects, Irène and Edison Résidence, to showcase their innovative, sustainable work in detail.
