The French architect has presented plans for a skyscraper for the International Business District of Yongsan – Seoul planned by Daniel Libeskind.

Dominique Perrault, the Blade, Seoul

Yongsan business district in Seoul has been planned with the involvement of a number of different world-famous architectural studios: Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Tange Associate Architects, - COOP HIMMELB(L)AU, MVRDV, BIG Bjarke Ingels Group, 5+Design, etc. all worked on buildings included in the master plan by Daniel Libeskind.

Dominique Perrault will build The Blade, tower b2-2 Yongsan ibd – sky island, about 300 metres high.

Perrault’s project fits into the panorama as a mysterious totem; the architect has designed a prism rather than a traditional rectangular tower, with a slender form that will look different depending on the observer's point of view, like an optical prism creating light effects.

The outside of The Blade is covered with glass, and its transparent skin reflects the landscape with the towers around it and the light of the sun to create a halo of light around the building, while by night it reflects artificial light like a precious stone.
