Artwork to promote environmental awareness. Beachpix.
Artwork that cares”. This slogan defines the Beachpix. initiative that aims to secure beaches all over the world endangered by climate change, using art, new technology, environmental programmes and exhibitions to promote public awareness.

The man behind the initiative, Bernd Mayer, starts from the principles whereby beaches are not only great places for a holiday, but are also some of the most dynamic regions on earth and of fundamental importance to the history of humans.

Suffice it to think that 11 of the world’s 15 largest cities are located on a coastline or river estuary and that by 2025, 75% of the population will live in these areas. The effects of this trend are already starting to show.

So, the promoter’s idea is to make people more aware of these places to protect and preserve them and to learn to live with nature with the lowest impact possible, given that these are some of the most beautiful ecosystems on our planet.

The Beach initiative offers various solutions, which under the name “Beachpix.”, aim at fundraising and at getting people involved.

Some of the initiatives include: Artwork, with works of art that recreate one square metre of original beach sand on any medium, and Beachpix.App to virtually connect web users to the beach of their dreams.

Last, but certainly not least, the Beachpix. Care Programme is the core to the whole initiative, since it aims to support the various programmes that defend the coastal environment directly on the field, through fundraising initiatives.
