Striatus - an arched 3D-concrete-printed bridge in Venice

On the occasion of the Venice Architecture Biennale, an arched bridge printed in 3D concrete – the first of its kind – was installed and inaugurated at the Giardini della Marinaressa, in Venice. The project was developed by ETH Zürich's Block Research Group in collaboration with the Zaha Hadid Architects Computation and Design Group (ZHACODE), division of the architecture firm with the same name, and with Incremental3D (in3D). Moreover, the project and was made possible thanks to the two-component concrete developed by Holcim.

A hi-tech footbridge over the Moldau

A team of architects and engineers from Prague’s Klokner Institute CTU have built a footbridge over Bohemia’s Moldau River, on the EuroVelo 7 cycling route from Sweden to Sicily.

Carl-Viggo Hølmebakk designs new pedestrian bridge over the Vøringsfossen waterfall in Norway

Architecture and landscape: the indissoluble pair that accompanies every stretch of the so-called Norwegian Scenic Routes. A clearly visible dialogue in the project designed by architect Carl-Viggo Hølmebakk for the Vøringsfossen waterfall, the largest in Norway and a popular tourist attraction since the early 1800s. The suspension bridge, with its 99 steps, is part of the Norwegian Scenic Route Hardangervidda, the largest Norwegian Scenic Route project to date and set to be completed in 2023.

Mechanized River Valley Access in Edmonton, Canada by DIALOG

The Mechanized River Valley Access by DIALOG connects downtown Edmonton, Canada with its spectacular Saskatchewan river valley. The project is one of the recipients of the 2020 National Urban Design Award, organized by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC), the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CLSA).

Canada, Prix du XXe Siècle Award of Excellence 2020

The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and the National Trust for Canada have announced that the Niagara Parks Commission’s Butterfly Conservatory is the recipient of the 2020 Prix du XXe Siècle Award of Excellence. Additionally, the Humber River Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge has received a Certificate of Merit.
