Home 09, Interior Design winner by i29
Dutch architecture and interior design studio, i29 has won the AZ Awards 2014 in the Best Residential Interiors category for a villa in the Netherlands, home 09.

Dutch interior design studio, i29 is renowned for its interiors that are not only lovely to look at but also provide real responses to the needs of the users. Examples of interior design where form follows function, without losing sight of the playful dimension.

The AZ Awards recipient, home 09, is the work of the two interior designers of a home designed by Paul de Ruiter Architects.

The large expanses of glass ensure that the building engages with the surrounding landscape, and to punctuate its ties with nature even more, i29 decided to use natural materials, like plywood. Plywood bookshelves line the kitchen and dining room walls, plywood was used on cabinets and sliding doors and even to construct the fireplace. This simple material, without any particular added value in home 09 becomes the feature throughout the light-filled interiors.

The international jury of the AZ Awards, including Ron Arad, Diego Burdi, Jamie Gray, Patricia Patkau and Charles Waldheim, selected home 09 by the i29 studio as the winner of the “Best Residential Interiors” awards, which the Dutch designers can add to the prestigious Herengracht Industrie Prijs (H.I.P.) award they received for their project Shop02/Frame Store in Amsterdam (http://www.floornature.com/blog/interiors-in-amsterdam-shop-02/frame-store-9540/).
